I'm now living in Texas. I moved down here about 2.5 weeks ago. I didn't really have a lot going on for me back in California, and I was offered a fantastic career opportunity here in Austin.

Things are still kind of hectic and I am in the process of getting settled in. I don't start work for another ~2 weeks though, so I intend to spend some of my free time in Apophysis :D

My triumphant return!

So I finally got a new computer, and the urge to make fractals is once again upon me. It all started with my GF making a comment that I should make a fractal that fit the color scheme of my new computer.

Over all, I'm really happy with the new system. Core 2 Duo E6600 (which I'm overclocking to 3.4 - 3.6 GHz, depending on my mood and system stability), 2GB of DDR2-1066, GeForce 8800 GTX, and a bunch of hard drive space :D I'm able to render a fractal in 45 - 90 minutes with my typical settings, where I used to spend 8 - 12 hours.

Since I quit uploading a while ago (jeez... almost a year and a half ago now), I continued to make fractals (though very rarely). I'll probably upload a few of those too. For the mean time, "Talay" is my newest work and I really like how it turned out.

I've been going through a lot of shit lately. "My mind is in a state of overload..." On top of that, I've become very impatient with the long render times on my computer. I haven't touched Apophysis in weeks, and every time I do I seem to be disappointed with what I create.

I'm in sort of a creative funk, I guess. Coupled with not having the patience for 9 hour renders any more, I think I'm going to give up Fractals until I can get my new computer.

I may change my mind. I may get a sudden burst of creativity. We'll see. But I doubt I'm going to do any full renders until I get the new computer, which won't be happening for several months.

So until then - I'll be lurking. Keep up the great work, all of you.

Yeah!

Random shit

So I moved out of the condo and into a "studio apartment." The "apartment" is more of a mother-in-law room in front of, but not physically attatched to, a house. A number of my friends live in the house, and I have full house priveledges, so it's a very comfortable environment.

I broke up with my fiance a few months back. It was an ugly situation all around. But afterwards, a friend of mine revealed that she had been interested in me for a while. So she and I are together now, and I must say she is making me quite happy.

I never did move to Oregon, though that is still on my agenda. It has simply been placed on the back burner, so to speak. I'm going to be starting a new job at a local computer repair/sales shop here in town. I should start sometime around June 20th, so I'm going to quit the current job around the 13th. During my week off, I plan to go to Reno, NV., to see a few friends.

About a month ago, I joined a band that a few friends of mine had been doing for some time. As I write this, I should be getting some sleep before the practice scheduled for 5 hours from now. The band is False Dawn, a crazy-technical Melodic Death Metal band. We recorded a small demo, which hopefully will be mixed & mastered in the next week. I'm not sure if Deviant Art allows you to post mp3's, but if so I shall post the songs here. If not, I'll simply post some links for download.

In closing, Bakke Brothers Brand "Sweet & Spicy" beef jerky is THE BEST store-bought beef jerky in existance. Period.
